Creative Innovation at Clerkenwell Design Week 2011

British and international designers descend on Clerkenwell, London for aesthetic festivities.

Despite being only two-years old, Clerkenwell Design Week promises to attract the most innovative international talent to the heart of London’s creative district (24-26 May). This year's festival will have over 50 British and international designers, manufacturers and architects, sprawled across Clerkenwell's historical greens and squares.

Celebrating the richness of design and its power for change and social impact, the festival will include debates, presentations and discussions tackling the latest issues facing the creative community; as well as everything else exciting about festivals, street parties, live music and food. This year the organisers have also commissioned special projects, like the life-size pin art installation by the queen of handbags Lulu Guinness.

Other highlights include the covetable Ploum Sofa by the Bouroullec Brothers for Ligne Roset. Described by the designers as a deliciously "ripe, voluptuous piece of fruit", the sofa will be on display at the Farmiloe Building, the hub of the festival. Other Phaidon favorites tipped to grace Clerkenwell this year include Ross Lovegrove and Naoto Fukasawa.
