Showcasing designs from all areas of industry - from architecture to dust jackets for books - the Brit Insurance Design Awards, which are co-ordinated by the Design Museum in London, bring together the most innovative and forward thinking designs from around the world from the previous year.

The international shortlist for the fourth edition ranges from Yves Behar’s Swarovski Chandeliers to concrete Emergency Shelters designed in Wales. Nominations also include the Apple iPad (as well as six different apps) and UVA's Speed of Light installation, commissioned by Virgin Media.

The nominations will be on show at the Design Museum from 16 February – 7 August 2011. Seven category winners from this selection will be announced on 28 February with the overall Brit Insurance Design of the Year revealed at an awards ceremony on 15 March. This year’s awards trophy has been designed by British designer Ross Lovegrove.
