Colin McDowell reviews Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion
The eminent fashion historian explores the understated elegance, wit and originality at the Barbican's exhibition devoted to modern Japanese designers
Inspired by the language of typography - 'character', 'body' etc - Tokyo-born designer Masashi Kawamura has created a range of tops in the style of various famous typefaces. When not being worn, his 'T' Shirts form the silhouettes of the letter T in Helvetica, Caslon, Baskerville, Courier and Cooper Black. When on the body they reshape into five unique and stylish pieces of couture.
The real-life point size of each design is included on the tag of the pieces, which are all available in women's medium, with Helvetica also available in men's medium. The shirts will be on sale through No Control Air from January.
