New York may have laid claim to the title 'City to Host Most Picasso Shows in 2010' - at various times at the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Marlborough Gallery - but for the really unmissable show the critics vote seems to have gone to the Kunsthaus Zürich's Picasso (until 30 January).

The exhibition pays homage to the artist's museum premier, curated by the man himself for the Kunsthaus in 1932, and features 100 pieces from the 225 paintings, sculptures, and drawings that Picasso personally selected for the original show, with examples from his pink and blue periods, his Cubist and neo-classical phase and his Surrealist works.

To accomodate enormous public demand to see the show before it closes at the end of the month – it has already attracted more than 175,000 visitors to date – the museum will be extending its evening opening hours in January to 9pm.

A Picasso iPhone app will be available for download free of charge from the museum's website until 30 January.
