‘What makes a good photograph?’ It is one question that Eamonn McCabe, picture editor for Decade - Phaidon's photographic review of the first ten years of the new Millennium - says he asks himself continuously.

Speaking to Phaidon.com at his studio in London he reveals his own take on the question, and talks through his experience of being picture editor at The Guardian and of his own work as a photographer.

Referencing the changing nature of the medium for his latest project, McCabe says: 'interestingly, because of digital developments, when I was compiling this photography book, I didn’t actually touch a single photograph.’
