Last chance to see - Jean Clemmer's Canned Candies come to London
Flash Projects' latest pop-up brings the images of photographer Jean Clemmer and fashion 'enfant terrible' Paco Rabanne together for a 40th birthday celebration
Jean Clemmer and fashion wild child Paco Rabanne's collaboration, Nues, broke new ground in more ways than one when the book was released in 1969. The sensual, carefully-styled shots of models 'dressed' in Rabanne's 'unwearable' fashions - including Rabanne's famed futuristic rhodoid and aluminium chain-mail jewellery - provoked shock and outrage for their erotic interplay between the female body and adornment. But they were also revolutionary for being the first such images to depict black and Asian models.
Highlights from Nues, as well further sensual photographic studies of the female form by Clemmer, are currently on show in a pop-up exhibition, Canned Candies, in London's Soho (until 18 December). Limited edition works are to be offered for sale as part of the event, which is being run by Flash Projects.
