What’s the best way to prepare globe artichoke?

A common cookery question answered
 


 

To prepare whole globe artichokes, break off the stalk and, using a very sharp knife, remove the tough outer leaves and trim the base.

Neatly cut the tips off the remaining inner leaves.

Wash thoroughly in water. Keep in water with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to prevent discolouring.
