The State of Things: Design and the 21st Century
The inaugural exhibition at Ron Arad's new Design Museum
Ron Arad's new Holon Design Museum officially opened in March 2010.
The inaugural exhibition The State of Things: Design and the 21st Century (on until May 2010) showcases more than 100 products by international designers, chosen for their practical or cultural impact on contemporary design and relevance to daily life.
The $17 million museum is the Israeli-born designer's first public building in his homeland, and comprises two geometric display spaces and a studio concealed within a structure of curving red steel. The building is a striking addition to Holon's burgeoning cultural quarter and a bold statement of Israel's - and Arad's - place in the international design scene.
