Ross Lovegrove's Disc Camera

The Kodak Disc – a camera innovation that used a mico-format rotational film system.

Through study and perseverance, the body-weight of the camera was reduced to that of a Coke can, eliminating in the process all superfluous detail. The film was necessarily repackaged into a ring-pull cassette that sat on, rather than with, the body of the product. This made the design slim and tactile, its outward material composition expressed the technological aesthetic of its innovation whilst retaining reference to its photographic origins.  The camera won the “Oggetti per Domus” award in 1984.
