Martin Scorsese, the master of gangland classics, comes to the Port Eliot Festival
The American film legend is curating the Paradiso Outdoor Cinema at this year’s Cornish cultural festival
Martin Scorsese, renowned film director, screenwriter, producer and actor, is curating the Paradiso Outdoor Cinema at this year's Port Eliot Festival (21-24 July). Amongst his selection of film classics is Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger's The Red Shoes from 1948, starring Moira Shearer, Marius Goring and Anton Walbrook. This musical will be paired in a double-bill with All About Eve (1950) by Joseph L. Mankiewicz.
Heather Stewart, Creative Director of the BFI, which helped programme the films, said: 'It's the BFI's mission that archived film is seen by new and broad audiences so we're delighted to be working with Port Eliot Festival to expand the selection of classic and unexpected archive films into their wonderful programme of arts and nature events. The interaction of these forms and the mix in such an inspiring setting will be a great experience for the festival goers and artists alike.'
