Karl Moser and the story of the Kunsthaus Zürich

Credited as 'the father of Modernism', even in his own time, Karl Moser's immense output totaled over 600 buildings. Of these, the greatest concentration were in his home town of Zürich, where contributions included designs for the University of Zürich campus, Basel’s Badisher Bahnhof, the Church of St Anthony and the city's museum for fine arts, the Kunsthaus Zürich. 

The latter is currently holding an exhibition devoted to the marrying of art and architecture in Moser's work (until 27 February 2011). Karl Moser: Art and Architecture marks both the final event during the centenary of the museum he designed and the 150th anniversary of his birth, and includes the opportunity to explore the Kunsthaus' new extension designed by British architect David Chipperfield. Over 300 objects are on display including plaster models, studies for the decoration of the Kunsthaus façade, drawings for additional sculptural building elements, sketchbooks and furniture.
