As well as providing 'an outstanding forum for discussing issues of contemporary architecture, starting from the principle that architectural practice is a fundamental expression of the creation of place, the construction of an integrating sense of citizenship, and cultural affirmation', the second Lisbon Architecture Triennale (until 16 January) offers a series of exhibitions curated by some of the brightest lights in the industry and a platform for several competitions, including the chance to design a house in the city of Luanda, Angola.

Highlights include Let's talk about houses: Between North and South, an exhibition at the Museu Collecao Berardo examining the meaning of the specificity of place through two emblematic experiments – the SAAL project and Alison and Peter Smithson's House of the Future - Borderlines: the Novartis case, curated by Diogo Seixas Lopes, which explores the relationship between Switzerland and Portugal, and Cova da Moura, presided over by Manuel Aires Mateus which showcases 30 proposals from students for rehousing citizens of the north Lisbon area Cova da Moura.
